Every gun, tank shell, artillery strike an unit call outs are authentic and have great bass on the proper sound setup. Similar to Company of Heroes the audio is also top notch. Tank fights can erupt and each shell makes a nice impact. Small infantry units are easy to identify and watching some of the massive large scale battles is a treat to the eyes an ears. All the different factions look completely unique. Sudden Strike 4 is also a very beautiful game. These unlocks also carry over to the multi-player and skirmish matches as well. They are varied and offer different tactical options and even contain unlocks that can change up the gameplay significantly. In addition to the different factions you also have multiple doctrines in the form of famous generals. Training mode is helpful and recommended as it will make sure you aren't completely overwhelmed as soon as a battle starts. Considering the huge amount of options the control scheme has been pulled off very well and becomes second nature after a couple of hours. Thankfully none of the challenge comes from poor console performance or a bad port.
Add on top of that fuel management, ammo, and healing all having to be done manually and it can get challenging quickly. Tactics are king here, with missions often starting off with a very limited number of units. Sudden Strike is not about sitting back and building a huge base and pumping out a huge army that you will attack move across the map to eventually win. So far even early on the game will test your skills and tactical decision making on the fly with varied and changing mission objectives. This is one of the games best features because WW2 games by and large usually only give the Allies a campaign and typically ignore so many of the other nations involved.Įach mission has a 3 star system so if you want to sit and try to get all 3 stars for every campaign mission.good luck. Sudden Strike comes with the usual assortment of modes you would expect from a fully featured RTS.
Console fans who haven't played much RTS games outside of Halo Wars should know there's a steep learning curve that can be daunting at first. As somebody who never got into any of the previous games however, and for those who haven't and are in the market for a really good console RTS, you are in luck. Even though I never got my hands on the previous games I did know that Sudden Strike 3 wasn't quite the game fans wanted, an a lot of those fans were very happy that part 4 was a worthy followup. Sudden Strike 4 (Published by Kalypso Media and developed by Kite Games) is a long running WW2 tactical RTS that has mostly been PC exclusive.
